Position Overview

The Director of Operations reports to the Senior Executive Leadership. The Director of Operations is ultimately responsible for the entire scope of NICHOLAS AIR’S flight department and program under 14 CFR 135 and 14 CFR 121S operations.

Operational Control authority: NICHOLAS AIR’s Operational Control begins with the Director of Operations. All operational control authority listed in the manual is issued through the Director of Operations.

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Meeting the requirements of 14 CFR Part 119.67 and 119.71 and or has a waiver from the FAA to serve in this position.
  • Maintaining the primary authority to exercise operations control over all aircraft operations. The Director of Operations may delegate operational control authority to other designated managers and operations personnel, as relevant to their job descriptions.
  • Ensuring that NICHOLAS AIR alone conducts operations authorized in its Operations Specifications.
  • The entire scope of the flight department, including the managing and facilitating of operations and maintenance, and coordinating the flight department’s activities with customers as appropriate.
  • The safe operation of all aircraft owned, operated, or managed by NICHOLAS AIR.
  • The coordination of all departments to ensure a smoothly functioning operation that fully meets the mission statement of NICHOLAS AIR.
  • The execution and oversight of NICHOLAS AIR policies, procedures and procedures and ensuring that all activities of the departments under his oversite comply with NICHOLAS AIR’s standards and are in compliance with all laws, rules, and regulations governing flight activities.
  • The implementation and supervision of day-to-day flight operations, including Operational Control, to ensure compliance with established NICHOLAS AIR policies, FAA Operations Specifications, applicable Federal Aviation Regulations, Advisory Circulars, and other associated regulatory programs.
  • Maintaining the authority to implement changes as required to maintain compliance and practices consistent with good operating procedures and safety.
  • Preparing and submitting petitions for exemptions to Federal Aviation Regulations which affect NICHOLAS AIR and coordinating with the appropriate departments to ensure comprehension of and compliance with deviations and exemptions as required. The Director of Operations coordinates the preparation of any and all Voluntary Self Disclosures, as required.
  • Interpreting the application and effect of all Federal Aviation Regulations, Special FARs, Notice of Proposed Rulemaking, exemptions, and Advisory Circulars on NICHOLAS AIR operations and for advising department heads of any changes that might affect their department.
  • Coordinating with the Director of Maintenance for the scheduling of aircraft into and out of maintenance.
  • Evaluating the training and testing of personnel and exploring training program options.
  • Distribution and posting information or memoranda relative to changes affecting NICHOLAS AIR’s policies, route information, NAVAIDs, NOTAMs, manuals, etc.
  • Sending notification to the appropriate agency in the case of an incident, accident, or other reportable event notification.
  • Having the final approval on the selection, training, retention, and termination of all flight crew personnel, however, concurrence with the General Manager is necessary. The Director of Operations also participates in merit reviews and compensation of employees.
  • Acting for the Certificate holder, including the signing of FAA correspondence.
  • Originating new and effecting changes to the appropriate Operations and Management Specifications and developing policy for incorporation into the General Operations Manual. The Director of Operations has the authority to sign Sections A, B, C, D, and E of the FAA-approved Operations and Management Specifications.
  • Coordinating and implementing the FAA-approved drug and alcohol testing program.
  • Conducting NICHOLAS AIR ground and emergency training in accordance with NICHOLAS AIR’s approved Training Program Manual.
  • Establishing, monitoring, and maintaining company files and pilot records as required by the code of federal regulations and NICHOLAS AIR policy.
  • Implementing corporate policies and directives.
  • The quarterly review of the General Operations Manual with the management staff to facilitate process improvements and coordinating with the FAA Principal Operations Inspector.

The Director of Operations may delegate any or all duties of the Director of Operations to a qualified individual; however, such delegation does not relieve the Director of Operations of the overall responsibility.

Position Overview

The Director of Maintenance is responsible for the operation and management of the 145 Repair station and its personnel.

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Provides technical support on a variety of tasks
  • Develops and recommends procedures and methods, and prepares technical reports and documentation
  • Performs technical evaluations of events to determine root cause; recommends corrective action
  • Represents NICHOLAS AIR as one company internally and externally with industry groups and regulatory bodies
  • Leads the development, communication, and implementation of efficient operational procedures, policies, and effective growth strategies for the department
  • Establishes and maintains a positive working relationship as liaison between company, clients, and the FAA with responsibility for the company’s issued maintenance certificates and signing of correspondence

  • Collaborates with senior management to develop and implement the department’s annual business plan and budget based on goals and objectives for the company
  • Makes periodic inspections of the working area and takes necessary steps to correct any discrepancies related to safety, cleanliness, organization, or general housekeeping practices
  • Promotes a healthy culture for the department and the team that benefits employee engagement, happiness, customer loyalty, safety, integrity, and overall excellence
  • Responsible for all record keeping and auditing requirements, including maintenance and disposition of those records, and signing of Part D of the Operations Specifications
  • Oversees all inspections, repairs, and component changes and accompanying documentation are accomplished in accordance with the manufacturer or FAA approved procedures, conforming to quality control standards, on schedule, and in compliance with FAA regulations
  • Oversees and reviews work orders while jobs are in progress monitoring for proper sign offs, supervising and inspecting as required
  • Responsible for the aircraft, tooling, equipment, materials, inventory, and activities within the hangar(s) and on the adjacent ramp(s) for all department personnel
  • Plans and prepares maintenance or repair estimates and determine the scope of work and personnel required
  • Maintains all necessary records and logbooks, including certification in the aircraft permanent maintenance records that the aircraft is approved and returned to service
  • Acts as primary point of contact with flight crews on maintenance discrepancies related to Part 91 and Part 135 fleet with understanding of MEL and write-up process for each aircraft
  • Coordinates with the Director of Operations on the timely communication and correction of mechanical repairs, as well as planned inspections or maintenance work on the Part 91 and Part 135 fleet around scheduled flights
  • Provides the Director of Operations with the current airworthiness status of aircraft under the Part 91 and Part 135 fleet, forecasting downtimes to facilitate maintenance scheduling at optimal times and ensure timely deferral or correction of aircraft discrepancies
  • Coordinates with senior management, officers, and owners on matters related to business operations
  • The VP of Maintenance may delegate some of these duties, but retains overall responsibility

Minimum Requirements

  • 7-10 years of experience within general aviation maintenance operations, including Part 135, and equivalent operational experience to include familiarity with aircraft maintenance scheduling, team management, and customer relations
  • 5+ years in Supervisor or Management role
  • Must have knowledge of, and maintain a current file of all applicable FARs
  • Comprehensive understanding of aviation industry
  • Experience managing mixed-level team members of professionals and managers

Position Overview

NICHOLAS AIR is looking for a full-time Director of Training to join our team with the primary task of working directly between NICHOLAS AIR leadership, the NICHOLAS AIR flight line, and the authorized training centers around the world to maintain the highest standards of professionalism within the NICHOLAS AIR Pilot community. The role ensures that all training programs are in line with the demands of FAA Part 135 requirements and that all record-keeping and regulatory elements are in good order. Duties & Responsibilities

  • Continually oversee all elements of the NICHOLAS AIR Training Program to ensure compliance with rules and regulations

Position Overview

The Aircraft Maintenance Controller is responsible for managing mechanical irregularities and planning for the accomplishment of all scheduled maintenance activities. The Maintenance Controller will work with Maintenance, Scheduling, and Flight Operations to coordinate the workload for maintenance operations based upon fleet requirements. This position is a member of a team that arranges and manages the timely and efficient delivery of aircraft maintenance support to aircraft operations as required, on a 24/7 basis. The position shall ensure that all services performed meet the applicable Federal Aviation Regulations prior to return to service and provide maximum airworthy aircraft availability.

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Provide clear information affecting maintenance status, action plans, return to service estimates, and other technical information as required to Flight Operations, Management, and Maintenance Department personnel
  • Communicate directly with flight crew members when operational discrepancies are discovered, and obtain all necessary information needed by technicians to perform prompt and effective repairs
  • Utilize maintenance tracking computer systems and accomplish the planning, scheduling, and logistics to complete all scheduled maintenance activities within the requirements of the aircraft inspection programs
  • Update Computerized Maintenance Tracking Program with verified compliance information using audited return to service documentation
  • Update Flight Operations Software in real-time, indicating aircraft fleet maintenance status

Essential Functions

  • Responsible for ensuring that mechanical delays are handled in a safe and expeditious manner, and in accordance with the General Operations Manual (GOM)
  • The Maintenance Controller will coordinate with other departments to expedite aircraft return to service
  • Control and track all Deferred Maintenance Items and ensure parts are available

Position Type & Expected Hours of Work

To work as a member of the MRT MRO team, this role focuses on maintenance activities and work scope of customer aircraft. Identify and correct issues for malfunctioning aircraft mechanical components and systems. Perform a variety of diagnostic and mechanical duties on jet and turboprop aircraft and assist with scheduling and coordination for other crew members. Help coordinate and communicate aircraft issues, adding squawks as required, responding to customer inquiries, and is responsible for assuring customer satisfaction by coordinating with MRO team. Help oversee the maintenance of the MRT by ensuring the vehicle is always properly serviced and roadworthy.

Travel

This position requires up to 80% travel, including weekends and holidays, overnight travel is expected. Responsible for AOG events and approvals in the United States. Must have a clean driving record.

Position Overview

Phenom 300 Instructor Pilots to be responsible for the delivery of flight training in a flight simulator and ground school in accordance with the FAA, Company approved curriculum and other appropriate requirements. You will act as the subject matter expert (SME) in the creation of curricula and courseware, ready to lead pilots through their training utilizing the latest technologies and avionics.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Provide simulator/flight and classroom instruction on the Phenom 300 aircraft as assigned for the issuance of licenses, type ratings, internal training, certificates, and pilot qualifications
