NICHOLAS AIR will be sponsoring a team for the St. Jude Marathon in Memphis on Saturday, December 5, 2015. NICHOLAS AIR has participated in the marathon in recent years, but this will be the first year as a corporate sponsored team. NICHOLAS AIR’s team goal is to raise $10,000. All money our sponsored team raises will go to St. Jude.

The marathon is a collaborative effort of St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital and the Memphis Runners Track Club (MRTC). There are six total races to choose from, and they include: St. Jude Memphis Marathon 26.2, St. Jude Memphis Marathon Relay 26.2, St. Jude Memphis Half Marathon 13.1, St. Jude Memphis 5K, Kids Marathon, and Family Fun Run. All races take place on Saturday, December 5, 2015.
Families that come to St. Jude will never receive a bill—not for treatment, housing, food, travel cost or anything else. St. Jude knows the whole focus of being there should be on making sure their child survives. It cost $2 million to run St. Jude daily, and approximately 70% of those funds come from individual contributions. This means every penny counts! After St. Jude pays off all fees from the marathon weekend, the remaining proceeds will go back to the hospital.
Mandy Wells, a NICHOLAS AIR employee who participated last year, had this to say about the marathon: “Participating last year made me realize how truly special St. Jude is. At one point in the race, you run through the campus of the St. Jude Hospital and are greeted by patients, their families and staff who are there to not only cheer you on but thanking you for participating! It is an indescribable feeling and gives you the motivation to push through and finish the race. I am now forever a supporter and will literally go the extra mile for this special cause.”
